Bio

I am from Linden, Tennessee where my parents are both teachers in Perry County.  I have three younger brothers: Ben, Craig, and Dray Mercer.  I am also very close to all of my extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, who for the most part all live in Linden.

I graduated from PCHS in 1997, which was the year we won the Boys' State Basketball Tournament!  I started college at UT-Martin that fall and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education - English in December 2001.  In January, I was lucky enough to get a job in the middle of the year at Hickman County Middle School teaching 8th grade English.  I was there for two more years following that half and also was the assistant girls' basketball coach.  During my time there, I drove to Nashville about every Friday to get my Master degree in Library and Information Science.  I finished my degree just in time as the librarian at PCHS was retiring that same summer.  The forty minute drive to Centerville was getting old after a few years.  I also received my Education Specialist degree from MTSU in 2008.

I was the librarian at Perry County High School for 6 years from 2004-2010.  During that time, I was also yearbook sponsor two years.  My three minute drive soon turned into thirty after I married Bart Pope.  We got married June 24, 2006, and lived first in Lawrence County but moved a few months later to Waynesboro.  He is a ranch manager here in the county for Miller Brangus.  I also couldn't ask for better in-laws and I finally got sisters.  We also have three nieces and four nephews!

Bart and I have two daughters and one son:  Lily-8, Ruby-6, and Jake-2.  They make life fun and sometimes crazy.  I was so excited when I got the position here as librarian as I want to be in the same school system as my children.    I love being a librarian because I get to see different students every day.
