Welcome to the WCHS Wildcats web site!  My name is Heather Warren, and I am currently in my eleventh year as WCHS school counselor.  I have been in the education profession for 21 years.  After finishing my student teaching at Franklin High School in the Fall of 1996, I finished out the remainder of the school year at Spring Hill High School as a business teacher.  Then I joined the Wayne County school system during the 1997-1998 year as business/computer teacher and girls' basketball coach at Frank Hughes School in Clifton, TN.  After teaching and coaching at FHS for four years, I took a position as the new business technology teacher at Wayne County Technology Center.  During this time, I was also the assistant girls' basketball coach and head softball coach for Wayne County High School.  While I enjoyed teaching, I was ready for a new challenge, so I returned to Freed-Hardeman University to pursue licensure in school counseling.  I finished my certification in 2006, then decided to continue to pursue my Education Specialist degree from Middle Tennessee State University, which was completed in 2008.  In October 2007, I accepted a position outside the Wayne County school system with the Ayers Foundation Scholars Program that was located in Scotts Hill, TN.  I served as a college and career counselor for the high school students there.  After a 10-month stint, the WCHS counseling position opened up, and the rest as they say, is history.  I have also served as assistant basketball coach for the WCHS Lady Cats who won the TSSAA Class A State Championship in 2001 and 2011.  I feel very blessed to be back at my alma mater and to be helping the students and parents with whom I have already established relationships with.  WCHS is where my heart is, and I am very thankful to work with such wonderful colleagues and deal with such excellent students on a daily basis.

My husband, Lynn, and I have been married for 22 wonderful years.  We have one daughter, Jaylee, who is a 2018 WCHS graduate.  She will attend the University of North Alabama this fall to pursue a degree in secondary English and hopes to follow that up with a Masters in School Counseling.
